iiSBE , initiative for sustainable Built Environment , is the only completely independent NGO addressing sustainable Building and sustainable Built environment. It has been founded during the 1st World conference on Sustainable Building in 2000 in Maastricht, The Netherlands.

Members come from many disciplines , with a majority from academic background, forming the Academic & Research Forum  within iiSBE.

This project is initiated by the A&R Forum.

iiSBE , together with partners, is initiator of The World Sustainable Building conference series, which are combined with series of regional conferences.

iiSBE has a sister project, Plan B, a position paper on “Climate Change and Plan B”, which outlines some of the major climate change issues that affect the built environment, and what steps may be taken to address them. >> iiSBE page

together with partners  Global ABC, CIB, UNEP and FIDIC, a international GHG survey has been carried out, listing major policies that should be executed on short term: >> Survey
